CARLES REBASSA (Palma de Majorca, 1977)
Born in Palma, poet Carles Rebassa has published Requiescat in pace (1998) alongside Pere Perelló, Poema B (Poem B, 2006), and Els joves i les vídues (The Young Ones and the Widows, 2006), a book distinguished with the Ausiàs Marc Award. He has worked as an actor, playwright and set constructor for Mag Theatre’s company, bringing to the stage plays by Joan Oliver, Josep Palau i Fabre, Blai Bonet, Joan Brossa and Ramon Llull, among many others. He has presented, alongside musician Toti Soler, Un home reparteix fulls clandestins (A Man Hands Out Clandestine Leaflets), a poetic show based on Joan Brossa’s work; and, together with singer Ester Formosa, the show Deu catalans i un rus (Ten Catalans and One Russian). He has collaborated with Biel Mesquida, preparing Auca, a cinema script based on the poem of the same title, by Bartomeu Rosselló-Pòrcel. He has just finished his research on the life and work of poet Blai Bonet: Mite i pols de Blai Bonet (Blai Bonet’s Myth and Dust), and is currently working on the novel Prometeu vist de mil maneres (Prometheus Seen in a Thousand Different Ways).
